2013 World Car of the Year Finalists

These awards competitions are run differently all over the world. In the case of the World Car of the Year, an international jury of 66 motoring journalists select the 10 finalists by a vote. In alphabetical order, they are:

Range Rover
Mazda 6
Mazda CX-5
Mercedes A-Class
Peugeot 208
Porsche Boxster/Cayman
Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86
Volkswagen Golf VII
Volvo V40
In addition to the World Car of the Year, the jurors also vote on the the 2013 World Performance Car Award. And in alphabetical order, they are:
Aston Martin Vanquish
Audi RS5
BMW M6 Coupe/Convertible
BMW M135i
Mercedes SL63 AMG
Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster
Porsche Boxster/Cayman
Renaultsport Clio 200 EDC
Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86
Each juror gets to retest each car, ahead of another round of voting; the results of the vote are totalled by KPMG and the winners are announced at a press conference at the New York Motor Show on 28 March. The most recent World Car of the Year winners were the Volkswagen Up!; the Nissan Leaf; and the South African-built Volkswagen Polo back in 2010.
In addition to the World Car of the Year award there is also a six-car list of finalists for the 2013 World Car Design of the Year award. And in alphabetical order, they are:
